President Lee Jae-myung’s approval rating rises to 37.3%

President Lee Jae-myung’s approval rating rose to 37.3% in a recent Realmeter poll, marking a rebound after three weeks. The positive evaluation increased by 2.1 percentage points compared to the previous week. Analysts suggest the rise is partly due to the administration’s emphasis on livelihood policies and strengthened responses to violent crimes following a recent stabbing incident in Incheon. Notably, the Incheon and Gyeonggi regions saw the largest increase in positive sentiment, rising by 6.0 percentage points.

In terms of party support, the People Power Party led the Democratic Party of Korea with 40.9% and 36.2% respectively. The Rebuilding Korea Party also saw a slight increase to 6.9%.

Separately, Kim Ji-yong, the first head of the Serious Crime Investigation Agency (SCIA), has pledged to eliminate the politicization of investigations. During his first official appearance, Kim emphasized the importance of fairness, neutrality, and procedural justice to ensure the agency serves the public interest and protects the rights of citizens. He also noted plans to establish a task force to ensure the rapid operational stability of the agency.
