South Korean police officers investigated for misconduct

A police chief in North Jeolla Province is under investigation for allegedly destroying his high‑school son’s mobile phone after learning the boy filmed a teacher without consent. The chief, identified as A‑경감, is being charged with evidence tampering and is also facing scrutiny over whether a familial exemption from liability applies.

In a separate case in Chungju, a police officer identified as B‑씨 is accused of removing his shirt and threatening a parent who was walking his daughter to school. The incident, reported to authorities in April, was allegedly captured on video but the police response delayed, ultimately closing the case without prosecution. Both incidents have prompted public criticism of police conduct in South Korea.
