South Korean police seek arrest warrant for man in viral Suwon drug video

The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency has applied for a pre-arrest warrant for a man in his 30s suspected of violating the Narcotics Control Act. The individual gained public attention after a video surfaced in June showing him staggering with a hunched posture near a bus stop in Suwon, leading to online speculation regarding drug use.

While an initial rapid drug test yielded a positive result for methamphetamine, a subsequent urine test returned a negative result, leading to his release during the investigation. However, police later discovered methamphetamine in a plastic zip bag during a search of his residence and confirmed positive results through hair follicle testing.

The suspect has denied using methamphetamine, claiming the substance found was left over from a previous investigation and that his physical state was due to prescribed psychiatric medication. Police have also implicated an accomplice for sharing psychotropic substances with the suspect and are continuing to investigate the specific timing and location of the alleged drug use.
