South Korean police sign community safety pacts with local districts and post office

The Busan Buk‑gu district office and the Busan Northern Police Agency signed a community‑policing agreement on 24 May. The pact uses resident group leaders to quickly report hazards and crimes via 112, share information on missing persons, traffic safety, and neighbourhood vulnerabilities, and coordinate police response to prevent incidents.

On 23 May, the Gunwi Police Station and the Gunwi Post Office entered a similar agreement to combat financial fraud and strengthen local safety. The deal creates a "mail patrol" of postal carriers who, while delivering mail, report suspicious activity, assist vulnerable residents, and cooperate with police on crime‑prevention outreach and rapid response.

Both agreements aim to build a tighter safety network by linking law‑enforcement with community institutions, enhancing early detection of crime and improving overall public security.
