South Korean political leaders exchange verbal attacks
Political tensions in South Korea have escalated as leaders from the Rebuilding Korea Party, the Democratic Party, and the People Power Party trade insults regarding leadership styles and political conduct.
Shin Jang-sik, leader of the Rebuilding Korea Party, criticized Han Dong-hoon, an independent lawmaker, accusing him of using social media to mock others and create false political frames. Shin specifically noted Han’s disparaging comments toward People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk, who was previously mocked for wearing a flower and playing a drum during a protest.
The Democratic Party further targeted Jang Dong-hyuk, labeling him the longest-serving leader of the People Power Party since its inception. Democratic spokesperson Park Seong-jun characterized Jang’s tenure as merely “holding on” despite electoral losses and criticized his leadership style, alleging a lack of dignity and an emphasis on extreme rhetoric.
The People Power Party responded by dismissing the Democratic Party’s criticisms, suggesting that the opposition should focus on the unstable position of their own leadership instead of mocking Jang.
