South Korean power industry expands cooperation in Southeast Asia

South Korean energy and power industry entities are expanding their presence in Southeast Asia through strategic partnerships and trade missions.

The Korea Electric Association has established a cooperation framework with Indonesian organizations, including PLN Pusdiklat, the Association of Indonesian Power Equipment Manufacturers (APPI), and the Indonesia Smart Grid Association (PJCI). This partnership focuses on sharing technical standards for power transmission and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, training specialized personnel, and facilitating business exchanges to help Korean companies navigate local regulations and human resource needs.

In a separate initiative, Korea Western Power led a trade mission consisting of 12 domestic small and medium-sized enterprises to Indonesia and Malaysia. The mission resulted in approximately $18.76 million in export consultations. In Indonesia, the mission conducted 98 consultations and secured three agreements, while in Malaysia, it achieved $4.79 million in consultation results. These efforts aim to integrate Korean power and energy equipment into the local supply chains of the Southeast Asian market.
