President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating hits record low

President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating has fallen to 43.3%, marking its lowest level since he took office and representing a fourth consecutive weekly decline. According to a Realmeter poll conducted from August 3 to 7, negative assessments of his performance rose to 53.0%, creating a gap that sits outside the margin of error.

The decline is attributed to several factors, including controversies over real estate tax revisions, amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act, and fallout from remarks regarding the Korea Military Academy. Economic uncertainty and a prolonged heat wave also contributed to the downward trend. Regional declines were notable in Seoul (5.9 percentage points), Daegu/Gyeongsangbuk-do (5.5 points), and Busan/Ulsan/Gyeongsangnam-do (4.8 points).

Regarding political party support, the ruling Democratic Party of Korea recorded 44.6%, while the main opposition People Power Party recorded 37.6%. Both parties saw slight decreases compared to previous polling.
