South Korean President Lee Jae‑myung unveils three nationwide mega projects

President Lee Jae‑myung told senior aides that the government will pursue three “mega projects” intended to turn South Korea into a leading player in the fourth industrial revolution and to create a nationwide “Korean Silicon Valley.” He said the initiatives will spread growth beyond the capital region, strengthen the renewable‑energy sector and generate long‑term investment funds for future generations.

At a subsequent lunch with former President Moon Jae‑in, Lee thanked Moon for the renewable‑energy infrastructure laid during the previous administration, noting that the RE100 industrial park and regional wind‑ and solar‑power investments provide the base for the new megaprojects. Both leaders emphasized continuity in Korea’s industrial policy and the need for coordinated effort across government, business and society.
