South Korean public agencies partner to strengthen overseas ethical management
Six South Korean public institutions have entered into an agreement to enhance integrity and ethical management across their international organizational networks. The participating agencies include the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-sure), and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).
The partnership aims to proactively address ethical risks such as conflicts of interest and human rights violations that may occur in overseas offices, where direct oversight from domestic headquarters can be challenging due to varying local laws and environments.
During their first working-level meeting held in Seoul, the agencies agreed to share expertise, benchmark each other's systems, and co-create practical tools. These include a joint declaration on ethical management and a self-assessment checklist for local staff to ensure compliance with ethical principles. The group also plans to consider launching joint anti-conflict-of-interest campaigns tailored to specific regional contexts.
