South Korean regional authorities seek high-tech investment in China

South Korean regional governments are conducting targeted missions to China to attract investment in advanced industries.

Uijeongbu Mayor Kim Won-ki is visiting Linyi and Weihai from May 27 to 31. Participating in the 4th Linyi Shangcheng International Buyer's Conference, the Mayor aims to promote Uijeongbu’s investment environment to companies specializing in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and advanced materials. The itinerary includes visits to industrial parks and companies such as the Weigo Group to establish networks for future economic cooperation.

Simultaneously, the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority dispatched a working-level delegation to Shanghai from May 27 to 29. The mission focused on attracting Chinese firms in the robotics, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy sectors. The delegation held a roundtable discussion with six high-tech companies to discuss investment opportunities in the Pyeongtaek and Ansan regions, specifically targeting hydrogen energy, AI-driven manufacturing, and renewable energy supply chains.
