South Korean regional leaders address industrial growth and flood recovery

In South Korea, regional leaders are addressing economic development and disaster recovery. The Daejeon Chamber of Commerce and Industry met with Chungnam Governor Park Su-hyeon to discuss balancing industrial growth between the northern and southern regions of Chungnam. The discussion focused on leveraging Daejeon’s R&D capabilities alongside Chungnam’s manufacturing base, as well as implementing an ‘AI Great Transformation’ to modernize local industries.

Separately, Gyeongnam Governor Park Wan-soo inspected flood recovery efforts in Tongyeong, which was recently designated as a special disaster zone. The Governor visited damaged areas, including island communities, to oversee infrastructure repairs and ensure that support reaches all affected residents. The designation allows for increased national funding to assist with local recovery costs and provides relief to residents through reduced utility fees and health insurance premiums.
