South Korean regions hold events to honor social workers
Local governments in South Korea are holding commemorative events to celebrate Social Workers' Day and recognize the contributions of welfare professionals.
In Yangpyeong County, a ceremony was held at the Yangpyeong Library to honor approximately 150 social workers. During the event, Yangpyeong County was awarded an ‘A grade’ in the 2026 Social Welfare Worker Treatment Improvement Policy Evaluation, a distinction reflecting the county's efforts to improve working conditions and reflect the voices of those in the field.
In Guro-gu, a separate event organized with the Guro-gu Social Welfare Council is scheduled to host around 300 attendees, including private sector workers and public officials. The ceremony will include awards for 51 individuals dedicated to improving welfare for vulnerable groups and strengthening the local community safety net.
