South Korean regions hold events to mark Mental Health Day

Various local governments in South Korea held commemorative events for Mental Health Day to promote psychological well-being and reduce social stigma surrounding mental illness.

In Dobong-gu, Seoul, approximately 1,800 residents participated in programs including lectures on stress and anxiety, mental health awareness booths, and a “Mind Relief Bus” providing stress measurements and virtual reality healing experiences. The event was supported by 13 local mental health and suicide prevention agencies.

In Jinan-gun, an event was held to connect mental health awareness with the “Visit Jinan Year” project. The initiative included a “Mind Travel” project that utilizes local tourist sites to encourage emotional reflection. Activities featured lectures on depression, healing recreation, and the publication of a collection of writings titled “Sentences of Jinan,” which resulted from a postcard contest designed to help residents and visitors process their emotions.
