South Korean regions launch coffee and tea industry training programs

Various regional initiatives in South Korea are launching educational programs focused on the coffee and tea industries to bolster local expertise and economic development.

In Busan, Kyungsung University’s University Job Plus Center is recruiting 50 young participants for a coffee industry talent training program. Conducted in collaboration with Blackup Coffee, the free course offers practical experience in roastery tours, flavor expression, and recipe development. This initiative aligns with Busan’s goal of becoming a global coffee hub by developing high-value processing and logistics clusters.

In Boseong County, the local government is recruiting 30 residents for its second Urban Regeneration University program. The six-week course combines tea culture and barista training, covering topics such as tea history, matcha beverage preparation, and espresso machine operation. The program includes field trips to tea plantations and aims to enhance local capacity by teaching participants how to create signature beverages using regional resources.
