SK Hynix halts US IPO plans for subsidiary Solidigm

SK Hynix has suspended plans for an initial public offering (IPO) and a pre-IPO fundraising round for its California-based NAND flash subsidiary, Solidigm. The decision follows increased financial market volatility and a broader correction in semiconductor stocks.

South Korean regulators have also raised concerns regarding a potential ‘duplicate listing,’ which could impact minority shareholder interests and violate local regulations. The company noted that the suspension does not reflect a change in Solidigm’s growth prospects or investment needs.

Solidigm, which was formed in 2021 after SK Hynix acquired Intel’s NAND flash and SSD business, requires significant capital to expand production capacity in the United States to meet rising AI-driven memory demand. While the IPO was previously estimated to value the subsidiary between $100 billion and $150 billion, SK Hynix stated it will continue to explore alternative funding methods, such as debt or capital increases, to support Solidigm’s expansion and new fab construction.
