Special Prosecutor raids election commissions over false voter counts
The Special Prosecutor Team investigating the 9th local elections has confirmed that false voter counts were entered into election systems across 30 municipalities nationwide. To investigate the matter, the team conducted simultaneous search and seizure operations at seven locations on the 15th, including the National Election Commission and several regional election commissions in provinces such as Gyeongnam, Chungnam, and Gangwon.

In some instances, officials maintained the same incorrect number for subsequent time slots or added arbitrary numbers to correct errors without following official reporting procedures.
The Special Prosecutor Team has deployed 31 personnel, including prosecutors and digital forensic experts, to analyze election management logs and interview approximately 70 local election officials. While the investigation focuses on the integrity of real-time voter turnout reporting, the team has not yet commented on whether candidate vote counts or final results were manipulated.
The National Election Commission has acknowledged the input errors but maintains that the hourly figures were provisional statistics and did not influence the final election outcomes.
