South Korean startup initiatives launch support for tech and climate entrepreneurs

South Korean startup ecosystems are launching new initiatives to support early-stage technology companies. The Asan Nanum Foundation is hosting the 15th Chung Ju-yung Startup Competition at the Seoul COEX Auditorium on the 28th of next month. The competition features 15 finalist teams divided into four categories: Global (software startups expanding to the US), Climate Tech, Newcomers (including North Korean defectors and foreign entrepreneurs), and Beginners (entrepreneurs in their 20s). The event aims to distribute a total prize of 370 million won.

Separately, the Gyeonggi Innovation Center and the Band Foundation have announced the ‘2026 NextValue Ground’ program. This initiative seeks to recruit early-stage technology companies in sectors such as climate tech, AI, AgriTech, and 12 emerging industries including semiconductors and bio-healthcare. Selected companies may receive up to 200 million won in investment, with follow-up support including TIPS recommendations, open innovation opportunities with large corporations, and assistance with global market entry.
