South Korean tech firms expand AI into finance, media, and European infrastructure

Major South Korean technology entities are expanding their artificial intelligence (AI) integration across diverse sectors. KT Group is broadening its AI transformation (AX) from telecommunications and cloud infrastructure into finance and media production. BC Card is utilizing specialized generative AI platforms like ‘BCGPT’ and ‘MOAI’ to enhance customer services, such as restaurant recommendations and shopping curation. Meanwhile, KT’s media arms, kt ENA and kt Studio Genie, are implementing AI for content creation, including video cloning for variety shows and AI-driven production systems to reduce the time and cost of filming action sequences.

In a separate strategic move, NAVER has proposed the joint construction of an ‘AI Factory’ in Europe through collaboration with France. This initiative aims to establish large-scale computing infrastructure to support European enterprises and startups. NAVER is also seeking cooperation in industrial AI applications, drawing on its experience with specialized models for finance and nuclear power plants. Additionally, NAVER has signed a memorandum with the French National Audiovisual Institute (INA) to explore AI applications for analyzing audiovisual archives and plans to support content localization through a $100 million fund established with Webtoon Entertainment.
