South Korean tech giants Samsung Electronics and LG Energy post Q2 2026 earnings

Samsung Electronics forecast a Q2 2026 operating profit of about 89.4 trillion won, roughly 19 times its profit a year earlier and surpassing Nvidia’s profit for the same period. The company said the profit leap was driven by strong performance in its semiconductor and storage businesses, though the final figures will be confirmed later.

LG Energy reported Q2 2026 earnings of 111.3 billion won, roughly half analysts’ expectations, citing weak demand in the United States electric‑vehicle market. The firm noted that without U.S. advanced‑manufacturing tax incentives, the quarter could have turned to a loss. LG Energy is shifting focus toward energy‑storage contracts, including a $4.3 billion order from Tesla.

Both companies highlighted the broader impact of policy and market shifts on Korea’s high‑tech sector.
