South Korean telcos launch campus, defense, and supply chain initiatives

South Korean telecommunications companies are launching several new initiatives across education, defense, and industrial data sectors.

SK Telecom is conducting a ‘Visiting Campus’ program from October 30 to November 4, visiting seven institutions including Chungnam National University and Pusan National University. The program offers career and employment mentoring through SK Academy coaches, AI service experiences, and mobile device maintenance services such as screen protector replacement and cleaning.

KT is participating in the 9th meeting of NATO’s Next Generation Wireless Communications Standardization Project (NWCSP) as a 5G and 6G standardization expert. This marks the first time a South Korean carrier has participated in this capacity. The meeting, held in Seoul, focuses on applying next-generation mobile technology to defense sectors, including satellite communications and wireless backhaul.

LG Uplus has entered a strategic partnership with IBCT to support South Korean manufacturers in complying with European supply chain data requirements. Through the Catena-X project—a data exchange system involving major manufacturers like BMW and Volkswagen—LG Uplus will provide cloud, communication, and security infrastructure to help companies manage product carbon footprints and digital product passports.
