South Korean universities expand academic ties with Uzbekistan
South Korean universities are expanding academic and cultural ties with Uzbekistan through new institutional agreements.
Joongbu University has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uzbekistan Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation. This partnership aims to enhance international educational exchanges, share educational infrastructure, and facilitate student mobility. The agreement includes practical cooperation with Korea International University in Fergana (KIUF), which operates dual-degree programs. In the second semester of 2026, 126 KIUF students are scheduled to transfer to Joongbu University.
Separately, Duksung Women's University has entered into an agreement with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in South Korea. This collaboration focuses on academic exchange, joint research, and student mobility across various fields, including IT, economics, and social sciences. The partnership was bolstered by an international Kurash tournament held at the university, which served as a platform for diplomatic and sporting engagement involving ambassadors from several Central Asian and other nations.
