South Korean university students conduct rural volunteer programs

University students in South Korea have conducted various volunteer programs to support rural and fishing communities.

At Kyungbuk College, 44 students and staff members visited Naeap Village in Andong to provide specialized services based on their majors. Nursing and physical therapy students provided health checks and pain management guidance, while hospitality and beauty care students engaged residents through food preparation and spa activities. Fire safety students also conducted safety inspections and taught fire prevention techniques.

Separately, the student club association from Hanbat National University organized a five-day volunteer program in Nam-myeon, Taean. A group of 67 participants, including 50 students, assisted local fishing communities by organizing fishing gear and cleaning up trash along coastlines and breakwaters to address labor shortages in the region.
