South Korean venture firms target bio, AI, and semiconductor startups

South Korean venture capital and innovation hubs are intensifying efforts to support high-tech startups in the bio-healthcare, AI, and semiconductor sectors.

The Incheon Creative Economy Innovation Center recently held its second ‘BiiG WAVE’ IR session, featuring six early-stage companies specializing in medical AI platforms, pain quantification, and cardiovascular cell therapy. The event facilitated direct engagement between startups and five major investment firms, including Hana Ventures and Insight Equity Partners.

Simultaneously, Big Move Ventures has announced its ‘2026 BIG MOVE IR DEMODAY,’ seeking to recruit eight companies in the bio-healthcare, medical device, AI, and semiconductor fields. The firm, which is expanding its portfolio beyond its existing holdings, will provide selected companies with opportunities for investment review during a pitching session in Magok, Seoul.

In a broader policy context, the Korea Venture Business Association held the 5th Venture and Startup Growth Forum to discuss strategies for talent acquisition and sustainable growth. Participants advocated for reforming the venture business certification system to focus on innovation and growth potential rather than company size, and suggested expanding stock-based compensation tools like RSUs and RSAs.
