South Korean woman arrested after spitting at police during Jamsil voting‑site protest

A woman in her 40s was arrested in Seoul after she spat at and verbally insulted police officers during a protest that blocked the Jamsil election‑counting centre. The Seoul Eastern District Court issued a detention warrant, citing concerns that she might flee and could reoffend. The incident occurred on June 23 near the Olympic Park handball arena, where demonstrators were protesting ballot shortages in the recent local elections. Police are reviewing video footage and other evidence and will decide whether to open an internal investigation.
