South Korean woman arrested for killing father over investment losses
A woman in her 40s has been arrested for the murder of her father in Cheonan, South Korea. According to the Cheonan Dongnam Police Station, the suspect allegedly killed her father, a man in his 60s, with a blunt object while he was sleeping in an apartment in mid-September.
The crime was discovered three weeks later after police investigated a missing person report filed when the suspect lost contact while staying at an accommodation in Sokcho. Following a search and CCTV tracking, police located and arrested the suspect at a motel in Busan.
Preliminary investigations suggest the motive was related to significant financial losses. The suspect reportedly received hundreds of millions of won from her father several years ago for investments in stocks and real estate, but lost the funds. She allegedly told police she committed the act because she was stressed and feared her father's reprimands regarding the failed investments. Police are currently conducting forensic analysis on mobile devices to determine if the crime was premeditated.
