South Korean women's volleyball eliminated from Asian Championship

The South Korean women's national volleyball team was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship after a 0-3 loss to Thailand. The match, held in Tianjin, China, resulted in set scores of 20-25, 18-25, and 21-25.

This defeat has significant implications for the team's international prospects. By failing to reach the semifinals, South Korea has missed the opportunity to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics via the continental championship route. Additionally, the team failed to secure a spot in the 2027 FIVB Women's World Cup, which is awarded to the top three finishers.

This marks the second consecutive tournament where South Korea has failed to reach the semifinals, following their performance in 2023. To qualify for the LA Olympics, the team must now rely on their FIVB world ranking, which currently stands at 28th.
