South Korea's Andong City and Shinhan Financial Deliver Summer Relief to Vulnerable Residents
Andong City in North Gyeongsang Province partnered with the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea to distribute 245 "cool summer" kits to low‑income elderly, disabled and other at‑risk households. Each kit, worth about 100,000 won, contains a breathable blanket, probiotics, powdered grain, a tabletop fan and mosquito repellent, and recipients received guidance on heat‑wave safety.
Shinhan Financial Group chairman Jin‑ok Dong and senior executives visited the "Ongi Warehouse" in Seoul’s Yongsan district, providing a refrigerator, portable circulators and other summer necessities to 811 residents of a nearby makeshift‑housing community. The donation also included ready‑to‑eat meals, vitamins, beverages, T‑shirts and insulated bags, with volunteers delivering items directly to households.
Both initiatives aim to mitigate health risks posed by the ongoing heat wave by supplying essential cooling and nutrition supplies to the most vulnerable populations in South Korea.
