Han Byung-do, acting leader of South Korea’s Democratic Party, condemned the creation and distribution of synthetic porn targeting lawmaker Lee Eon‑ju, describing it as a grave crime that assaults human dignity. He urged the party to apply a zero‑tolerance policy, calling for swift and strong legal prosecution of the original creator as well as anyone who reposts or shares the material.

He also announced that the party will introduce a criminal‑procedure law amendment this week to abolish the prosecution’s supplemental investigation authority. The draft aims for rapid parliamentary passage before the planned October re‑organisation of the prosecutor’s office, to ensure the new public prosecution and serious crime investigation agencies can operate without that power.

Both moves are presented as part of a broader effort to strengthen victim protection and tighten legal oversight of investigative powers in South Korea.
