South Korean President Lee Jae‑myung's approval falls to 45.9%

A Realmeter poll commissioned by Energy Economy newspaper surveyed 2,508 South Korean voters aged 18 and over from July 27‑31. It found President Lee Jae‑myung's approval rating at 45.9%, the lowest level since his inauguration, while disapproval rose to 50.5%. The 4.6‑point gap between approval and disapproval exceeds the poll’s margin of error (±2.0%).

The decline was linked to a recent stock‑market crash, fallout from leveraged ETFs, economic anxiety, controversy over real‑estate tax policy and debate over a constitutional amendment to allow presidential re‑election. Party support shifted as well: the Democratic Party of Korea rose to 45.1% (up 3.8 points) and the People Power Party fell to 37.7% (down 2.9 points). The poll used automated‑response telephone interviewing with a 3.8% response rate and a ±3.1% margin of error for party‑support figures. The largest age‑group drop in approval was among voters in their 30s, down 7.4 points.
