South Korea's MFDS launches school food safety education awards
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has announced the 15th Food Safety and Nutrition Education Excellence Case Presentation to identify and promote successful dietary education practices in schools. The initiative aims to support balanced nutrition and healthy eating habits for growing children and adolescents in accordance with the Special Act on Safety Management of Children's Dietary Life.
For the first time, the evaluation will include educational cases that utilize digital media, reflecting the increasing shift toward digital-based learning in classrooms. The competition is open to teachers and nutritionists from elementary, middle, high, and special schools nationwide. Applications are being accepted from August 26 to October 30 via Naver Forms.
The selection process consists of a preliminary document review and a final presentation held on November 13. Evaluation criteria include the creativity and appropriateness of the lesson content, the use of educational tools, student participation, and the potential for the methods to be shared across other educational settings. Winners will receive the MFDS Minister's Award. Selected cases will be shared through online channels such as ‘Food Safety Nara’ and the Ministry of Education’s ‘EduNet’ to enhance teacher training and support healthy dietary environments for youth.
