South Korea's North Gyeongsang Province grape exports reach $16 million in H1, 90% of national total

North Gyeongsang Province announced that grape exports for the first half of 2024 totaled $16.01 million, a 44.2% increase over the same period last year. The region's shipments accounted for 89.8% of South Korea’s total grape export value of $17.82 million.

Nearly all exported grapes are the Shine Muscat variety, grown mainly in the counties of Sangju, Gimcheon, Yeongcheon, Yeongju and Gyeongsan. Export markets include Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam and about 20 other countries. Provincial Agriculture and Livestock Distribution Director Park Chan‑guk said the province expects annual grape export earnings to exceed $80 million as the harvest season progresses.

The strong growth reflects the development of specialized export grape clusters and diversification strategies aimed at stabilising domestic supply and increasing farmers’ incomes.
