South Lanarkshire police seek e‑bike suspects after two car fires

Police Scotland are searching for two men on an e‑bike after a car was deliberately set ablaze on Reid Street in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, in the early hours of 30 July 2026. The fire was extinguished with no injuries reported. The incident follows a separate vehicle fire on Sneddon Terrace in Hamilton on 29 July, prompting investigators to consider a possible link.

Detective Constable Meechan described the suspects as white males, about 5 ft 7–8 in tall, of slim build, each wearing dark clothing and face coverings. One was seen in a dark top, grey gilet and dark trousers; the other in a black hooded top and joggers. Police have appealed for dash‑cam or CCTV footage and any witnesses to contact 101 or Crimestoppers.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities keep an open mind on whether the two arsons are connected.
