South Los Angeles couple welcomes rare naturally conceived triplets

A Southern California family has welcomed a rare set of naturally conceived triplets. Nyla Craft and Marco Bernal of South Los Angeles gave birth to three boys, Elio, Elias, and Enzo, on August 18.

Medical professionals at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center described the pregnancy as an uncommon occurrence. Quynh Vo-Hanser noted that the birth was a 'mixed triplet' set, meaning it consisted of one set of identical twins and one fraternal sibling, all achieved through spontaneous, natural conception.

The triplets were notably large for such a birth; their combined weight was approximately 19.3 pounds, with each individual baby weighing more than six pounds. This is significant as triplet births often involve premature delivery and lower birth weights compared to singletons.
