South Los Angeles mural unveiled along Harbor Freeway
The ‘South Central Strong’ mural, created by artist Moses Ball, was unveiled along the Harbor (110) Freeway in South Los Angeles. The artwork is part of the state’s Clean California initiative and serves as the third mural in the region under this program.
The mural features nine portraits representing various community figures and archetypes, including urban gardening activist Ron Finley, neighborhood elders, and a dancer modeled after Elle Munda. Other depictions include a mother mourning a child lost to human trafficking and figures representing fatherhood and guardianship.
California Transportation Secretary Toks Omishakin and Caltrans Director Dina El-Tawansy joined local officials and community members to celebrate the installation. The project is part of a $2.89 million beautification effort aimed at uplifting communities and creating inspiring public spaces.
