South Melbourne FC has secured a place in the 2026 Australia Cup final after a 3-1 comeback victory against Lions FC. The win marks the first time the club has reached the decider, making them only the third non-A-League side to achieve this feat.

Lions FC initially took the lead in the 23rd minute through Jackson Hart-Phillips, following a setup by Luke Broderick. However, South Melbourne turned the match around in the second half, led by substitute Bul Juach, who scored a hat-trick. Juach’s first goal came eight minutes after the restart, followed by a header from a Hassan Ramazani cross, and a final goal in the 83rd minute after reacting to a delivery from Max Mikkola.

South Melbourne will face A-League side Melbourne Victory in the final, which is tentatively scheduled for October 10.
