South Park creators rename show ‘South America’ to mock Trump

Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have announced that the animated series ‘South Park’ will be rebranded as ‘South America’ for its upcoming 29th season. The move is a satirical response to President Donald Trump’s recent efforts to rename various geographical landmarks to include the word ‘America.’

Specific targets of the satire include Trump’s executive orders to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the ‘Gulf of America’ and Lake Ontario as ‘Lake America.’ The creators also mocked Trump’s social media suggestion to rename New Mexico as ‘New America.’ The announcement further criticized tech companies Apple and Google for updating their map services to reflect these new names, stating they were ‘inspired by the bravery and patriotism’ of those corporations.

Additionally, the creators took a jab at their parent company, Paramount, describing it as a ‘Skydance Capitulation.’ The rebranding coincides with the show’s recent Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program and its upcoming season premiere scheduled for September 2026.
