South Pars gas refinery repairs reach 70% completion in Iran

Iran has completed approximately 70% of the repairs to a gas refinery in Phase 14 of the South Pars gas field. The facility sustained damage during an Israeli attack in June of last year.

Toraj Dehghani, CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company, stated that the rehabilitation work is expected to be finished by the end of the year. Once completed, the damaged section will be fully reintegrated into the production cycle to restore the facility's operational capacity.

The South Pars field, known as the North Field in Qatar, is the world's largest natural gas field. It is a shared resource between Iran and Qatar, covering roughly 9,700 square kilometers. According to International Energy Agency estimates, the field contains approximately 1,800 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 50 billion barrels of gas condensates, representing about 10% of global gas reserves.

Official Iranian data indicates the field produces about 716 million cubic meters of gas per day. Approximately 70% is allocated for domestic use, primarily for electricity generation and industrial sectors, while the remainder is exported via pipelines to countries such as Turkey and Iraq.
