South Sorong former Vice Regent questioned in corruption probe
The former Vice Regent of South Sorong, identified by the initials AS, has been questioned by investigators from the Sorong District Attorney's Office regarding alleged corruption in the management of goods and services for regional head operational expenses for the 2023 fiscal year.
During an eight-hour interrogation, investigators posed 23 questions to AS, who is currently being treated as a witness. This follows a previous examination of the former Regent of South Sorong. To date, 31 witnesses, including the former treasurer, have been questioned.
According to an audit by the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), state losses are estimated to exceed Rp7 billion out of a total budget of more than Rp9 billion. Prosecutors stated they will name suspects once sufficient evidence is secured.
