South Sudan sees 10,000 displaced after UPDF attack in Kajo-Keji

Around 10,000 civilians fled their homes in Kajo‑Keji County, Central Equatoria State, after the bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Liwolo said the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) carried out an attack in the Andejoga area. The displaced, mostly women, children, the elderly and people with disabilities, are sheltering in makeshift camps at St. Paul Cathedral, a primary school and nearby villages.

Bishop Joseph Aba appealed for urgent humanitarian assistance, citing critical shortages of food, clean water, emergency shelter, blankets, medical supplies and sanitation. He called on aid agencies, churches, government bodies and development partners to respond and urged a peaceful resolution to the long‑running South Sudan‑Uganda border dispute.
