South Sulawesi Governor maintains motor vehicle tax rates

South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman has decided not to increase the Motor Vehicle Transfer Fee (BBNKB) and Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax (PBBKB) rates. Economic expert Prof. Dr. H. Marsuki, DEA, Ph.D., described the decision as a rational move to protect public purchasing power and prevent a domino effect on logistics costs, distribution, and the prices of basic necessities.

Prof. Marsuki suggested that the provincial government and the DPRD Sulsel are prioritizing the optimization of the tax base and increasing taxpayer compliance rather than relying on higher tax rates to boost regional revenue.
