South Sulawesi inaugurates Mamminasata regional water supply system

South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman has officially inaugurated the first operational phase of the Mamminasata Regional Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM). The inauguration ceremony took place in Gowa Regency on September 11, 2026.

The initial phase of the project provides water services to 20,000 household connections across the Gowa and Takalar regencies. Water is distributed through five specific offtake points: Barombong, Limbung, Manggarupi, Borongloe, and Galesong in Takalar, utilizing a flow rate of 220 liters per second.

The regional system is designed with a total capacity of up to 500 liters per second. Future development aims to expand the service to 40,000 household connections, covering the broader Mamminasata area, which includes Makassar, Maros, Gowa, and Takalar.
