South Sulawesi students demonstrate linguistic and artistic talents

In Makassar, South Sulawesi, educational initiatives are highlighting the linguistic and artistic talents of local students. PSMTI Makassar recently held a Fun Walk event to celebrate Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, which included a ceremony awarding certificates to 40 participants who completed a three-month Mandarin language course. Chairman Johan Sumawi noted that the program, which also includes second-stage scholarships, aims to support the capacity building of the younger generation.

Separately, the South Sulawesi Social Affairs Office reported that students from the Sekolah Rakyat program are increasingly demonstrating diverse talents. Head of the office, Abdul Malik Faisal, observed that students are showing proficiency in foreign languages such as Mandarin, Japanese, and English, as well as skills in singing, poetry, and solar-powered innovation. The program seeks to reduce the educational quality gap between underprivileged students and those from wealthier families by providing access to high-quality instruction.
