South Sumatra Police Arrest Suspected Child Predator in Palembang

South Sumatra Police (Polda Sumsel) swiftly apprehended a 25‑year‑old suspect, identified only as A, suspected of sexually assaulting a 13‑year‑old girl (NA) in Palembang. The incident occurred on the night of 30 March 2026, when the victim was taken by the perpetrators to a motel on Jalan Kol. H. Burlian before being returned home via a ride‑hailing service. Police also placed a second suspect, DS (21), on a wanted list.

Investigators traced A to a hideout in the plantation of PT Mentari Sinar Abadi in Bayung Lencir, Musi Banyuasin, and arrested him there. Kombes Pol. Andes Purwanti of the Directorate for Women, Children, and Human Trafficking said the rapid response was based on thorough investigation and coordination with the victim’s family.
