South Taif Tourist Road Showcases Nature, Heritage and Seasonal Fruit Farms

The tourist road that runs south from Taif toward Maysan is promoted as one of Saudi Arabia’s premier scenic routes. It weaves through a chain of mountain villages—including Bani Saad, Maysan, Thaqif, Bani Malik and Al‑Qurayy—and reaches the northern border of the Asir region. The road skirts the slopes of the Sarawat mountains, offering panoramic views of high peaks, valleys and cultivated terraces.

Seasonal fruit orchards line the route, with grapes, pomegranates, apricots and barberry among the most noted produce, drawing visitors during harvest periods. Historic sites such as the stone‑built Al‑Kallada village, castles and forts add a cultural dimension. According to local tour guide Samy al‑Harthi, the road’s moderate summer temperatures (18‑25 °C) and occasional rains enhance its appeal for hikers, photographers and those seeking authentic rural markets.
