South-West Nigerian monarchs address regional security and local disputes

Traditional rulers in South-West Nigeria are engaging in efforts to address regional security and local disputes. In Ekiti State, the Iyin Development Federal Union (IDFU) has called for an amicable resolution to a controversy involving the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaiye, and Governor Biodun Oyebanji. The dispute reportedly stems from a request by the monarch for a specific chair used by the governor during a church service, which the church declined to release, citing it as property intended for altar furniture.

Separately, South-West monarchs led by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, are scheduled to meet with Yoruba nation activist Sunday Igboho in Ijero Ekiti. The meeting aims to discuss regional security measures, communal stability, and the synergy between traditional rulers and local security initiatives like the Iru Ekun Security Network to protect rural communities in Yorubaland.
