South West Somalia unveils revised five-year development plan
Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, the leader of Somalia’s South West state, has officially endorsed the revised South West Transformation Plan (STP 2026–2031). The five-year development framework aims to address regional challenges such as poverty, displacement, and climate-related shocks.
The plan prioritizes improving public services, strengthening state institutions, and boosting economic growth. Key focus areas include enhancing education and healthcare, expanding job opportunities, developing infrastructure, and increasing community resilience to humanitarian crises. The administration intends to implement the plan through cooperation between the state government, civil society, United Nations agencies, and other development partners.
