South West State leadership undergoes judicial resignation and reported cabinet changes

Political shifts are occurring in Somalia’s South West State as judicial and administrative leadership face changes. Dr. Ahmed Ali Muse has submitted his resignation as the South West State Supreme Court Chairman. In a letter to regional leader Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur Madobe, Muse stated he is stepping down voluntarily, citing a desire to have served the people while upholding judicial independence and the Constitution.

Simultaneously, reports indicate that former South West State President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen has reportedly named a new cabinet. This list includes fifteen ministers and deputies, notably featuring Ugaas Hassan Abdi Mohamed as the information minister. Mohamed previously held the information portfolio until 2020. While the reported roster has circulated, no official decree or signed announcement has been released to confirm the appointments, and the current administration in Baidoa maintains control over government offices and civil servants.
