South Western Railway announces special trains for Ganesh Chaturthi

South Western Railway (SWR) has announced several special express train services to manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. These services will operate from Yeshwantpur and Sir M Visveshvaraya Terminal (SMVT) Bengaluru between September 11 and 14, 2026.

Key routes include special services connecting Bengaluru to Madgaon, Vijayapura, Belagavi, and Bidar. For example, the Yeshwantpur-Madgaon Special Express is scheduled to depart on September 11, while a special service between Yeshwantpur and Bidar will depart on September 11 and return on September 13. The Bidar service will consist of 18 coaches, including sleeper and general second-class options.

Additionally, SWR noted that infrastructure development in the Tiptur section may cause delays of 15 to 90 minutes for certain trains, such as the KSR Bengaluru–SSS Hubballi Express and the Yeshwantpur–Vijayapura Express, between September 10 and 12.
