Southampton FC signs teenage midfielder Yunus Linton

Southampton FC has signed 17-year-old attacking midfielder Yunus Linton to a three-year professional contract lasting until 2029. Linton, who previously spent time on trial with Chelsea and represented England at the youth level, will initially join the club’s under-18 team at Staplewood.

Andy Goldie, Southampton’s Director of Group Talent Strategy, noted that the club successfully competed against interest from several Premier League and European clubs, including Monaco, Lille, and Brentford. Goldie described Linton as an “exciting addition” who provides a unique profile to the club’s player development program.

Linton, who is eligible to represent both England and Morocco, has recently received a call-up to the Morocco under-17 squad in preparation for the upcoming World Cup in November.
