Southeast Asia emerges as key hub for AI supply chain expansion
Southeast Asian nations are rapidly integrating into the global AI supply chain, transitioning from simple manufacturing hubs to specialized centers for high-tech components. According to the World Bank, Thailand is positioning itself as a hub for AI-capable product exports, particularly through its growing Printed Circuit Board (PCB) clusters.
Malaysia is leveraging its strength in semiconductor assembly and testing, with new initiatives like the Malaysia Advanced Packaging Alliance (MAPC) aiming to develop domestic advanced packaging capabilities. Vietnam is focusing on transforming its demographic dividend into engineering expertise, particularly in semiconductor manufacturing, while Singapore serves as a regional hub for AI talent and enterprise implementation.
Taiwanese companies are driving this regional expansion. Tech Data reported that AI and data center businesses now account for 50% to 60% of its revenue. Similarly, Fuhwa has seen significant stock growth as it expands its AI-related business, including high-density storage, HPC servers, and liquid cooling solutions. Fuhwa also plans to establish server chassis production capabilities at its facility in Thailand next year.
